About the role
On behalf of Danfoss, we are seeking an experienced Embedded Software Engineer to play a key role in developing intelligent, sustainable control solutions for industrial applications such as cooling, heating, and ventilation systems. You will become part of one of Danfoss’ most skilled and self-driven R&D teams within the Sensing Solutions division, located in either Nordborg or Kolding. Regardless of your primary location, you will work closely with their testing and development facilities in Nordborg, and occasional visits will be expected if you are based in Kolding.
Your primary responsibility will be to develop and maintain embedded software for both product-specific solutions and internal tools, including test frameworks. The role requires you to take ownership of your part in the teams’ projects and actively contribute ideas and improvements that create real value for products and processes. You will be heavily involved in development, validation, and testing – with ample opportunity to work hands-on with hardware in close cooperation with the R&D teams, lab and other stakeholders.
This position is a “try & hire” assignment, where you will start as a consultant through Academic Work for 6 months, with the clear goal of becoming a permanent Danfoss employee afterward.
You are offered

- An experienced, skilled team where you can shape the direction of software development
- Flexibility in how and where you work – including remote work, flexible hours, and strong work-life balance
- Competitive benefits, including a bonus system, pension plan, and personal insurance
- Access to employee resource groups, networking opportunities, and continuous personal and professional development
- A modern digital work environment and close collaboration with development, lab, and hardware teams, directly impacting the final product
- A culture built on strong values, high employee satisfaction, and vibrant social engagement
Work tasks
As a Senior Embedded Software Engineer at Danfoss, you will develop and maintain high-quality software for industrial control systems, working closely with hardware teams and various stakeholders. You will contribute to both new product development and the continuous improvement of existing solutions. Your typical tasks will include:

- Developing complete embedded solutions from the driver layer and up
- Collaborating with hardware engineers on system integration and testing

- Participating in daily Scrum meetings and other agile ceremonies
- Refining requirements, test specifications, and documentation in collaboration with the team
- Communicating with project managers, hardware developers, and occasionally product managers or customer teams to align on technical and commercial requirements
